The Reason For Elastic-Free Baby Pants

The Reason For Elastic-Free Baby Pants

As new parents, we found ourselves on the receiving end of a lot of hand-me-downs and new baby gear. A lot of which has been a lifesaver at times (looking at you, babybjorn bouncer), and some of which we still use today (mostly beanie babies, the market is bound to come back ya'll!!). On the other hand however, mixed into both new and old, we found one thing to be consistently true. What is up with all the baby pants?? To us, it seemed every brand from the big names to the new ones just made mini versions of kid pants and put on a super tight elastic to make sure it fit the little ones. The worst ones made no effort to make room for a diapered butt, which made them impossible to put on or the waistband would creep down with every movement. Which means, the waistband would either pinch our baby's belly or it would roll down below the protruding belly, causing a saggy bottom.

There are many reasons not to have elastics. Most of all, they're uncomfortable and annoying to put on, the feeling of which is compounded with every diaper change (10-12 times a day in those early days!). Maternal pants have soft waistbands for a growing belly - similarly, we designed pants to accommodate a tiny growing belly.

To us, even a minute of struggle with a piece of clothing is unnecessary - there is so much more to think about with a newborn - so we set out to make this one tiny moment better. Turns out our baby loves the super soft and comfy feel of our new and improved pants, and she would refuse to wear other pants. Then she grew and started to walk, so we had to make a bigger size without footies. Now she demands to wear her "soft pants". We hope your little one loves them just as much as ours!
